Overview
In 2008, The Projects Group was retained as the Owner’s Representative to the Bexar County Performing Arts Center Foundation. The scope of work was to manage the design, construction, and close-out of the conversion from the 1926 San Antonio Municipal Auditorium, located Downtown on the northern stretches of the San Antonio Riverwalk, into the Tobin Center for Performing Arts. The project currently consists of saving the historic entry structure and significant portions of the historic arcades around the building. Inside and to the back of the existing structure, a new 1750 seat multi-purpose auditorium with a fully automated orchestra level seating transformation system and a new 250 seat studio theatre will be constructed.
This project is to revitalize a historic structure that had become obsolete and provide a new gateway to the northern stretches of the Riverwalk.
