Overview

Arlington Life Shelter (ALS) provides shelter and support services to help the homeless population in Arlington, TX integrate into society becoming self-sufficient thriving contributors to the community. ALS is the only shelter in the DFW area with a work requirement for residents, receiving more than emergency shelter and over the past thirty years, the agency has served more than 25,000 men, women and children.

The design team has worked closely with the client leadership group to meet the pressing needs of our neighbors experiencing homelessness. The expansion includes seven family bedrooms, so children can stay together with their parents while experiencing housing instability. A new commercial kitchen and expanded dining area allowing guests to eat together rather than in shifts. Educational and recreational spaces for children have also been programmed throughout the facility.
